The Croatian Ministry of Demography and Immigration and the “Hrvatska za djecu” (Croatia for Children) Foundation have launched a pilot programme of financial support for buying a vehicle with 7 or more seats for families with four or more children. Up to €2.2 million has been allocated to the programme.
How much is the grant
The grant is 50% of the vehicle’s value including VAT, up to €15,000. It applies to a new or used vehicle registered to carry at least 7 people, including the driver. At the time the application is submitted, a used vehicle may be no more than 5 years old.
- vehicle of €24,000 - grant of €12,000
- vehicle of €30,000 or more - grant of €15,000
The vehicle’s value is the amount stated in the offer or preliminary sales contract issued by a legal entity registered for trade in motor vehicles. S-MOTO TEAM issues such an offer.
Who can get the grant
Basic conditions:
- the family has four or more biological or adopted children
- one parent or child is a Croatian citizen and one parent or child has permanent residence in Croatia
- the applicant is employed or earns income from self-employment
- the applicant or a household member holds a category B driving licence
- the applicant has the funds to cover the difference between the grant and the vehicle price

- no other grant from public sources has been received for the same vehicle
In addition, at least one of the following must apply:

- at least one child in the family is a child with developmental difficulties
- it is a single-parent family
- the household is isolated in terms of transport or has difficult access to schools, kindergartens, health centres and other public services
The full list of conditions and statements is on the Foundation’s website (the link is at the bottom of the article).
Documents and application
The application must be accompanied by documents on the family, income, employment and vehicles owned, signed statements and the offer or preliminary contract for the vehicle. The application is submitted through the Foundation’s online application or by e-mail. Applications are processed in the order they are received, so it is good to have the vehicle offer ready in time.
Two ways to get a vehicle: import or sale
| Croatian market | Bringing in from the EU (turnkey) | |
|---|---|---|
| Choice of vehicles | The local offer | The entire EU market |
| VIN check of the vehicle | Depends on the seller | Before any payment |
| Seller | In Croatia | Only verified dealers |
| Transport | Not needed | Insured transporter |
| Homologation, PPMV and paperwork | Usually already done | We handle it |
| Total cost | Immediately, from the vehicle price | You know it before buying |
Import to order
We choose the vehicle with 7+ seats from the entire EU market, so the choice of models, equipment and model years is much wider than in the local offer. A turnkey import pays off because:
- we check the vehicle by its VIN before any payment
- we work exclusively with verified dealers and we handle the negotiations, in your interest
- payment is made only after the check and a signed contract
- we deliver the vehicle by insured transporter and handle homologation, PPMV and the paperwork up to registration
- you know the total cost up to registration before you buy
Importing pays off more when the total price of the vehicle from the EU, including PPMV, transport and paperwork, is lower than the price of the same vehicle in Croatia. That is why we always compare the total cost, not just the listing price. All the differences in one place: Import a car yourself or turnkey?
Sale
You can also buy a vehicle with 7+ seats from the S-MOTO TEAM offer. Tell us how many seats you need and what your budget is and we will check what we can offer you.
In both cases we issue the offer that you attach to your grant application.
